Teacher represents UK in China

A teacher has returned from a trip to China, having been selected as one of 30 western delegates to attend an international event.

James O'Dwyer from Batley attended the Jiangsu International Forum of School Principals, as a representative of the Headmasters and Headmistresses Conference, reports the Huddersfield Examiner.

The head of modern languages and director of international students at Batley Grammar School helped Chinese educators to build cultural and professional links with educational establishments in the west.

Batley Grammar already has links with Shuren School in Yangzhou, the paper notes.

"We have taken Chinese students to study A levels at Batley for the last eight years and this May the international partnership was officially recognised," Mr O'Dwyer told the news source.

Earlier this year Bracknell News reported that geography teacher at St Mary's School in Ascot Brenda Vockings was set to take part in the Breast Cancer Campaign's Great Wall of China trek, alongside 13 colleagues.
