Civitas warns A levels are easier

People in teaching jobs in Buckinghamshire and around the country believe passes at A level are getting easier to achieve.

According to research by the Institute for the Study of Civil Society (Civitas), teachers think that rising grades are not a reflection of more intelligent students.

The think-tank's national survey of 150 teachers in UK found only four per cent believe increased grades are due to better teaching and no respondents agreed it was because students are more able.

The majority of people teaching in the UK also believe they would have managed a better grade than their pupils.

Civitas claims the consensus is that "the system today allows the same calibre of students to achieve higher grades".

At secondary school, students are not limited to only sitting A levels. There are also more vocational studies to be enjoyed.

Students who stay in secondary education but move into sixth form classes or local colleges can often choose from BTEC, HND, NVQ and foundation diplomas in vocational subjects.

Students unsure of which courses are available should consult professionals working in teaching jobs in Buckinghamshire who should prove quick to help.
