Gordon Brown meets award-winning school staff

Prime minister Gordon Brown has met award-winning staff from a school in Keynsham, according to a local news report.

Richard Brimble and Chris Leader, who both work at Wellsway School in Chandag Road, were invited to a special event at 10 Downing Street, following their success at the National Awards for School Support Staff.

Mr Brimble was awarded the premises worker of the year while Mr Leader received the technician of the year prize, the Western Daily Press has reported.

"It was a bit of a shock to win," Mr Brimble said while Mr Leader added that "it was a shock to be nominated in the first place and very flattering."

In other news, prime minister Gordon Brown has congratulated a Northolt primary school at a reception to recognise the country's most improved schools.

Teachers from Gifford Primary school, in Gifford Gardens, were among representatives from the 80 most improved schools that attended the event held at 10 Downing Street, a news report has said.
