Plymouth school switches to new computer software

A secondary school in Plymouth has opted for new computer software in a bid to "help teachers get the best of their students," a local news report has said.

Eggbuckland Community College has switched to the Capita Children's Services' Schools Information Management System, which is being used by more than 21,000 schools across the UK.

"Our management information system is vital to successfully monitor and track our students and this is why it was important for us to switch to the most robust and effective system available,” Matt Burrell, e-college manager at the school, was quoted as saying in the Herald.

In other news, North Somerset officials have approved a new hi-tech online computer system that will give all primary school children access to massive amounts of award-winning digital resources to help support their learning, according to a local news report.

The programme, which will cost £288,000, will also allow parents to keep an eye on their childrens' class work, the Western Mercury has reported.
