New head for school services appointed in Cornwall

Cornwall has named a new director to lead its services for schools, children and families, a local news report has said.

According to This is The West Country, local authorities appointed Trevor Doughty, a former social worker with a background in care, to head "undoubtedly one of the most important jobs in Cornwall at this time".

Mr Doughty, who will undertake his new post on May 12, will be responsible for supervising the departments relating to child care, including those taken into care by social services.

"I look forward to playing my part in ensuring that Cornwall has the best possible services for its children and young people and their families," Mr Doughty was quoted as saying by the publication.

In other news, Andrea Norris has been appointed to run Oakwood and Beechwood primary schools in Plymouth, which comprise the Southernway federation of schools, when the academic year starts in September, the Herald has reported.
