Cornish special school rated 'outstanding'

A special school in Cornwall is in a celebratory mood after it received a glowing report from Ofsted.

Education inspectors judged Three Bridges, a special school for autistic children located at Blackwater near Truro, as "outstanding," underlining the high quality of the school's curriculum and teaching.

"The progress that students make, when compared to their original starting points, is outstanding. The quality of teaching is such that all students make progress irrespective of their previous level of attainment," Ofsted's report said.

According to Ofsted, the school, which provides education for up to 12 students aged between 11 and 19, has improved significantly in what it provides for students.

In other news, Ofsted has said that a Yate school has improved since its last inspection and is providing good quality education to its pupils.

The education watchdog rated Wellesley primary as "good," noting that its hard-working students take pleasure in attending lessons.
