Put the playground on the beach, says former mayor

Former mayor Major Tom Wye has added his support to plans that will see a new playground built on Worthing beach, Sussex.
Major Wye, now a councillor, says a site at the seafront would be preferable to the other locations shortlisted, the Worthing Herald reports.
"I know there is a lot of support for it," Major Wye said.
Alternate locations that have been suggested are the Marine Gardens putting green and the open ground between Bernard Road and Anscombe Road.
He admitted that alternative play equipment would need to be supplied, as regular resources would not be suitable so near the coast.
"I am utterly convinced that this site should be it," he commented.
People in teaching jobs in Milton Keynes could get involved in bidding for funding through the national Playbuilder programme, which provides money to improve community play areas.
