Teachers issue plea over controversial curriculum
May 07 2010
Scottish teachers are expected to issue a warning about the controversial new Curriculum for Excellence, a news report has said.
According to the BBC, Peter Wright, the president of the Scottish Secondary Teachers' Association, will urge education secretary Mike Russell to either "fix it or ditch it".
Speaking at Friday's congress in Peebles, he will say that curriculum is "a deeply-flawed programme, which is not yet fit to be rolled out fully in secondary schools".
Mr Wright will also call for a dialogue with Mr Russell, saying that the teachers have a series of proposals for how the curriculum problems can be solved.
In April, Mr Russell said that the new curriculum would be brought into Scottish secondary schools in August.
In other news, a new study of 1,400 primary and secondary teachers has said that educational staff in England are calling the country's political parties for more stability and less changes.
