New website launched for Scots to share their views on education
May 26 2010
The Scottish government has launched a new website asking those involved in the education community to offer their views on what needs to be improved.
Engage for Education - www.engageforeducation.org - offers space for teachers, parents and pupils to share their views and engage directly with the government on topical issues, such as the Curriculum for Excellence.
It was launched by education secretary Michael Russell during a visit to St Ninian's High School in Kirkintilloch, where he held discussions with pupils, teachers, support staff and parents.
"Engage for Education will help put in place an open dialogue with the people whose opinions really matter. Education isn't about squabbling politicians, it's about our young people and those individuals who support their development," Mr Russell said.
In other news, Peter Wright, the president of the Scottish Secondary Teachers' Association, has issued a warning about the controversial new Curriculum for Excellence, a news report has said.
