Students in Cornwall 'well behaved'

Schoolchildren in Cornwall are among the best behaved in the UK, it has been revealed.

A recent Ofsted report concluded that behaviour across 31 secondary schools in the county was "good" or "outstanding", the BBC reports.

Local council representative Neil Burden said it is an "exceptional judgement".

"Young people in Cornwall have certainly done us proud," he commented.

David Barton, head teacher at Budehaven School and chair of the Cornwall Association of Headteachers, told the BBC that the recognition is "very welcome".

"Understanding how important it is to respect other people and tolerate differences of opinion are crucial," he stated.

Mr Barton suggested that teaching children how to support each other through work and play should be at the heart of what schools do.

The Stirling Observer reported earlier this year that local authorities there have been given £130,000 of funding to help local teachers tackle low level classroom disruption.
