South West Grid for Learning to host ICT event for teachers

The South West Grid for Learning – a government-backed trust that helps schools to get online - is set to host a number of special ICT events for teachers later this year.

According to the South Devon Journal, conferences will take place in Torquay on July 6th and at the University of the West of England on July 7th.

A spokesman for the organisation said teachers will have the opportunity to experience the latest ICT developments.

"These will include use of digital media in the classroom, learning platforms and collaborative work through handheld computers, blogs and wikis," he told the publication.

Conferences will include seminars and interactive workshops, with guest speakers including professor Tanya Byron and Sir Bob Geldof, who has been involved in a programme investigating the way in which schools communicate with parents.

The South West Grid for Learning currently works across 15 areas, including Gloucestershire, Somerset and Wiltshire.
