Balfour Beatty appointed preferred bidder for Derby BSF programme

Construction group Balfour Beatty has been appointed as the preferred bidder for Derby City Council's £231 million Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme.
The BSF scheme involves the design and construction or refurbishment of 14 schools across the city, with the initial phase due to begin in November of this year.
Balfour Beatty chief executive Ian Tyler said the company is delighted by the appointment.
"We look forward to developing a Local Education Partnership with the council and Partnerships for Schools to deliver excellent design and value for all schools in the programme, as well as maximising the economic benefit to the city," he commented.
By 2011 it is expected that every local authority in England will have received some funding through this programme to carry out work on the schools that are most in need of it, making it the biggest ever school-building investment initiative in Britain.
