New website set up for parents of schoolchildren

A new website has been set up by a father in Louth, enabling parents to voice their opinions on local schools and education issues.

According to the Grimsby Telegraph, 53-year-old David Quixley designed the site – - Louth Parents - to help mothers and fathers express their concerns.

"I have always had some strong feelings about how schools should work and after having some conversations with parents, I found out I wasn't alone," he commented.

It can be difficult for parents to communicate properly with headteachers and voice their concerns, Mr Quixley added.

Speaking earlier this month, Amy Schofield, editor of Mychild.co.uk, said parents can be a positive force for good when it comes to schools.

"Become a school governor and become part of the decision-making process; volunteer at the school; get involved in whatever way you can," she commented.

Ms Schofield suggested that parents who have opinions should get involved and make changes from the inside.
