Devon pupils produce their own newspapers
July 21 2010
Pupils at one Devon school have been sampling life as reporters and created their own publication.
More than 100 children from Eden Park Primary in Brixham spent a term writing and researching articles for their paper entitled The News of Yesterday, the South Devon Journal reports.
Headteacher Ken Kies said it was a great experience for the students.
"They were working to deadlines, meeting with editors and had to put the newspaper together using IT skills," he explained.
The children were also taken into Brixham to interview people and develop their journalism skills.
"They've really enjoyed it. A lot of them said they really enjoyed writing, which is unusual," Mr Kies added.
In other Devon education news, Kentisbeare Primary School has been told by Ofsted inspectors that it is "excellent" as far as health and fitness is concerned.
Headteacher Tracey Hailey said it is something for the school to celebrate and build on.
