Teaching job created so more can attend Uttoxeter primary school
July 27 2010
A teaching job has been created so more pupils can attend an over-subscribed primary school.
Tynsel Parkes First School in Uttoxeter will now be able to take on an extra 15 reception students as a result of Staffordshire County Council putting up a loan for it to be able to hire a new teacher, reports the Sentinel.
A total of 50 families had listed the school as their top choice for their child, but only 30 were initially allowed in because of rules on class sizes.
This lead to protests from parents whose children did not make the cut, but the council have now produced the funding as a stop-gap measure while Tynsel Parkes applies to raise its official admissions limit.
Another school which is to see new staff in teaching jobs in the near future is Hatchell Wood Primary School in Bessacarr.
Three members of staff, including the headteacher, having just retired, reported the Sheffield Star.
