Engage for Education event held in Inverurie
August 12 2010
Scotland's first Engage for Education event has been held in the Aberdeenshire town of Inverurie.
Cabinet secretary for education and lifelong learning Michael Russell was joined by several senior education figures at the meeting, which took place earlier this week.
"They are designed to give parents, teachers, pupils, students and members of the public the opportunity to discuss issues across the spectrum of Scottish education with a number of senior figures," he explained.
A number of other Engage for Education meetings are due to take place this month, including one at Lornshill Academy in Alloa on August 26th and at Balivanich School in Benbecula on August 31st.
Mr Russell launched an Engage for Education website earlier this year, giving parents and teachers the opportunity to voice their opinions online.
Scotland's new curriculum for excellence is due to be rolled out in September and the minister said he is aware people will have many questions about it.
