Engage for Education 'proving popular'

Scotland's Engage for Education website is attracting an increasing number of users, it has been revealed.

Education secretary Michael Russell said the site had 100,000 views last week, compared to 20,000 when it was first launched.

The website was created to prompt more dialogue between the government and the education community.

Furthermore, the site has been selected as a finalist in two categories at the forthcoming e-Government National Awards in London.

"People across Scotland are speaking out and sharing their thoughts and ideas on the issues that matter to them, reading blogs from ministers and guests, posting comments and getting involved in workshops on important education issues," Mr Russell commented.

"And the fact that Engage has now been recognised in a UK competition speaks volumes about its success."

As well as giving parents and teachers the opportunity to voice their opinions on important issues, the Engage for Education site also features interactive workshops and links to social media channels.
