Pupils take part in SOS fundraising day

Children and staff at one Cornwall primary school took part in a special SOS fundraising day last week for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI).

According to the Cornishman, youngsters from Landewednack School and the adjoining Little Lizard Children's Centre were treated to a visit from local RNLI members, including station mechanic Dan Atkinson and head launcher Dan Ashby.

Youngsters were given the opportunity to ask questions and even try on the clothing worn by crew members.

Teaching assistant Lyndsay Bray told the newspaper: "Prizes were awarded at the end of the SOS afternoon when parents were also able to go in and view all of the children's artwork which is on display in the school hall. The children had a really enjoyable day and produced some fabulous drawings."

In other Cornish education news, students from Helston Community College are staging their production of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe this week, using costumes borrowed from the original London stage version, the Western Morning News reports.
