Plymouth college to undergo ?4m revamp

Work is underway to revamp the Kings Road campus at City College Plymouth.

The project is costing just under £4 million and will take around five years to fully complete, the South Devon Journal reports.

College principal Viv Gillespie revealed that £1 million is coming from the Skills Funding Agency, with the college paying the rest.

"We had a hiatus when the national capital was pulled and we had to go back to the drawing board and have a rethink," she told the publication.

"But we have done that. This will make a difference to young people's expectations. We are trying to provide the most up-to-date facilities in a real working environment."

Meanwhile, it was revealed last week that Devon's largest school could convert to academy status.

Governors at Exmouth Community College have entered a period of consultation, before a decision is made later this year.
