Brixham pupils promote healthy living

Youngsters at one Devon school swapped cars for bicycles this week as they used the school run to promote healthy living.

More than 70 pupils arrived at Eden Park Primary School on bikes and scooters, the Herald reports.

The Love Your Wheels event was organised by the Sustrans charity to encourage youngsters to travel to school in a healthy way.

Headteacher Ken Kies told the publication: !The event promoted a healthy means of getting to school and lots of children turned up on their scooters and bikes.
"Sustrans provided a free breakfast and then held art and craft sessions and slalom challenges, which the children really enjoyed."

Council cycling officer Ron Clutterbuck said children around the Brixham area have shown "fantastic enthusiasm" for cycling.

In other Devon education news, basketball star Chez Marks dropped into the Marine Academy Plymouth last week to demonstrate his skills for pupils.
