Devon pupils step back in time

Children at one Devon primary school stepped back in time this week when they swapped their school uniforms for traditional Roman costumes.

The youngsters from Woodlands Park Primary School were visited by representatives from Exeter Museum who showed them what life would have been like during the Roman invasion of Britain, the Western Morning News reports.

As well as trying on costumes, children were given the opportunity to play with traditional musical instruments and handle artefacts from the era.

Parents were also involved and were invited to take part in a mock battle, firing pit balls through their shields.

In other Devon education news, it was reported last week that GCSE students at Dartmouth Academy have been provided with iPods to help with revision.

According to the Herald, the school has leased the media players and will be returned by students following their exams.
