Schoolchildren turn into roving reporters
February 23 2011
Students from North Axholme Specialist Media Arts College had the opportunity to experience life as a roving reporter earlier this week when they created their own newspaper.
The youngsters carried out interviews and gathered news on a range of community and school issues, the Scunthorpe Telegraph reports.
Pupils created the newspaper as part of a scheme set up by the University of Lincoln.
Year seven student Ella Da Costa said it is the first time she has taken part in something like this.
"I used to do a lot of writing at primary school but nothing to this level," she told the newspaper.
"My favourite part is going round interviewing the teachers and older children in the school. I never get to speak to older year groups so it was nice to see what they think about things.
"The university students who have also come have really helped us out. I would definitely do all this again soon – it is really fun."
In other Scunthorpe education news, youngsters from St Luke's Primary School were celebrating this week after being donated new sports equipment.
