Bath schools battle against cyber bullying

A working group has been established to combat school cyber bullies in the Bath area.

The e-safety group has been created by the Bath and North East Somerset Local Safeguarding Children Board and aims to promote safe use of internet and social networking sites for young people, the Bath Chronicle reports.

Nicola Bennett, who is involved with the initiative, told the newspaper: "Getting information and advice out to both children and their parents means they are better placed to know what to do if they are affected by or concerned about issues such as cyber bullying."

The group has produced a guide for parents and advises children not to retaliate to cyber bullying, to keep their passwords private and ensure they use appropriate privacy settings when visiting sites such as Facebook.

In other Bath school news, a planning application to build a new £2.7 million sports facility at Wellsway School has been rejected by local councillors.
