Pupils design high-visibility safety badge

Pupils from one Gloucestershire sixth form college are hoping to make a road safety product they have designed into a commercial success.

A group of youngsters from Balcarras School have created a reflective badge to make children more visible to road users, thisisgloucestershire.co.uk reports.

The badges retail at just £1.50 and are set to be judged at a Young Enterprise event on March 8th.

James Bagshaw, member of the team that came up with the idea, said: "We are all passionate about road safety and we had discussed how to make sure children can be seen and we came up with the idea."

The reflectors can be attached to zips and bags, with more than 180 sold already.

Elsewhere, it was reported this week that two Cheltenham primary schools have applied to establish a charitable trust.

Gardners Lane and Oakwood primary school have carried out a consultation, receiving support from Gloucestershire County Council.
