Plymouth students 'to attempt world record'

Pupils at one Plymouth school are set to make a world record attempt next month.

The youngsters from Eggbuckland Community College and other surrounding primaries aim to set the record for the most people dancing the Macerena, the Herald reports.

Over 1,800 pupils are expected to take part in the dance, with the current record held by a school in Ontario, Canada.

The dance will take place at the same time as the school's annual Comic Relief fundraising day.

Daniel Phillips, secretary of the student leadership team at the college, told the newspaper: "Rehearsals are going well. Everyone is enthusiastic and we are confident that we will feature in the next edition of the Guinness Book of Records."

In other Devon education news, youngsters from the nearby Woodlands Park Primary School stepped back in time earlier this week when they swapped their school uniforms for Roman costumes for the day.
