Bath pupils get hands-on to learn about science
February 24 2011
Pupils at a primary school in Bath now have a wide range of scientific knowledge after taking part in a special week of educational activities and games.
The students, who all attend the Moorlands Junior School in the city, hosted their own Science Week, geared towards encouraging their peers to learn all about the subject in a fun and entertaining way.
Among the hands-on activities that formed part of the special week were learning all about the art of fingerprinting, about how X-rays work and making hot air balloons, the Bath Chronicle has reported.
As well as help from the school's teachers, the pupils also benefitted from a visit by Ministry of Defence specialists, who taught them all about how biohazard suits work.
Celebrating the success of the week, deputy head Richard Hearn told the newspaper: "The children have had a really good time and have been really interested by it all. It has really brought science to life for them."
Meanwhile, the same newspaper has reported that another Bath primary, Combe Down Primary, is delving into the city's Georgian past in order to bring history lessons to life.
