Pupils suggest names for housing estate

Pupils at one Derbyshire school were recently given the opportunity to suggest a name for a new housing estate.

Construction company Davidson asked youngsters from Grange Primary School to put their thinking caps on and come up with a suitable name, the Derbyshire Telegraph reports.

Pupils Sean Spacey and Caitlin Bell won the competition, coming up with the name Grange Meadows.

The children were presented with a certificate and gift vouchers.

Stephanie King, head of sales at the company, told the publication: "The school has been wonderful to work with.

"It's part of the Davidsons philosophy to make any development an integral part of the local area and this is a great way to get involved."

Elsewhere, students from the nearby Trent College in Long Eaton were recently given the opportunity to question a Russian scientist on their involvement in the space race.
