Devon pupils return from 'life changing' history trip

Year 11 students from Coombeshead College have returned from a history trip to Poland, with one student describing the experience as "awe-inspiring".

The youngsters travelled with their history teacher Sarah Dornan and visited a number of concentration and extermination camps, as well as Krakow city.

Student Ellie Rigby said that even though the excursion was "heart-breaking", it was extremely valuable.

"I think that running the trip to Krakow is a real privilege," Ms Dornan told the publication.

"I get to see the students' shoulders straighten as they learn about themselves through this hard-hitting experience.

"I think you can see by the end of the trip that we've all grown a little."

In related news, the Scottish government recently announced plans to fund a trip to Auschwitz for at least two pupils from every secondary school in the country.
