New resource for teachers in Scotland
October 28 2009
Teaches and pupils in Scotland have a new resource available to them covering the country's history.
The Scotland's History Online website can also be used by the general public. It was developed by Learning and Teaching Scotland.
Various different ages in the nation's history are covered on the website, with specific sections for Picts, Caledonians and Gaels, as well as others.
Modern history is also covered, as is the making of the industrialised nation.
Scottish education secretary Fiona Hyslop said: "For too long Scottish History has been neglected in our schools. That's why, for the first time, learning about Scotland's history, heritage and culture is embedded within the curriculum."
She noted that the resource will help schools and teachers in Scotland deliver an informed learning programme.
The website covers more than just history within the Scottish borders - there is a special section on the topic of Scots and Australia.
