Sandwell schools to get further £120m in funds
December 18 2009
Eight secondary schools in Sandwell in the West Midlands will benefit from councils proposals to inject a further £120 million in them, according to a news report.
The money will be used to rebuild or refurbish the schools in the area following approval from the council, the news provider added.
"Communities as well as schools will see a big difference in the future through education that will provide state-of-the-art 21st century sporting and IT facilities together with venues for the whole community," cabinet member for children and young people Cllr Ian Jones was quoted as saying by the Halesowen News website.
The investment in the Sandwell schools is part of a bigger project entitled Building Schools for the Future (BSF). The total investment in the schools through BSF stands at £370 million, the news report added.
Earlier this month, Ed Balls, schools secretary, said eleven councils are set to become beneficiaries of the latest stage of the secondary school building programme.
