'Education in York has enjoyed a great year'
January 07 2010
Children studying in York over the past year have enjoyed a good period, according to councillor Carol Runciman, city of York councils executive member for children and young peoples services.
She said that while last year had gone out on a "high note" for the department, 2010 was also beginning with a special event, according to a news report.
"This year has ended with the department getting its inspection report the CAA, or Comprehensive Area Assessment," she was quoted as saying by the York Press.
"Only nine other childrens services departments got excellent and very few got any green flags at all, let alone in such a complex area," she added.
Her views came as York was due to stage the national conference NEEC 2010 formerly called the North of England Education Conference at The Royal York Hotel.
In other news, the Training and Development Agency for Schools (TDA) has made available to experienced teachers a new qualification entitled Masters in Teaching and Learning (MTL).
