Scunthorpe school wins national award

A secondary school in Scunthorpe is in celebratory mood after winning a prestigious national accolade, according to a local news report.
St Bede's Roman Catholic School in Ashby has been honoured by the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust for its excellent work in the community.
It received the award for the "most innovative successful engagement of the wider community."
"We are delighted to be able to celebrate the wonderful success of the pupils. The students do an awful lot of hard work and they engage with all of the fundraising activities so willingly," assistant head teacher Gerard Cadwallader was quoted as saying to the Scunthorpe Telegraph.
In other news, two island schools are celebrating after winning national awards by the esteemed Good Schools Guide, a local news report has said.
St Catherines School in Ventnor was named best school in the country for boys taking an entry level design and technology qualification, while Priory School in Shanklin was best school in the country for boys taking biology GCSE.
