School lead up the garden path by property developers

Teachers and pupils at a school in Sale are appealing to local businesses for help finishing their wildlife garden after the original contractors pulled out of the job.

Springfield Primary School had planned to open their new garden and learning environment in June - until the builders completing its disabled access path downed tools, Messenger Newspaper reports.

Disappointed with the developers decision, Alison Shard, headteacher of the school, told the publication: "We were promised help but they have disappeared and we are now struggling to get it finished on schedule."

"Before any other work can start such as decking, planting etc, the paving has to be laid and we have an army of parents ready to get to work," she added.

Meanwhile, Orston Primary School recently unveiled its new specially designed environmental garden class room.

The Grantham school's space includes a patch for the children to grow their own fruit and vegetables.
