Teachers run to raise funds for school

Raising money for a special needs school was the order of the day for two Kent-based teachers recently.

In a bid to generate more funds for The Quest School, which caters for autistic children, Glen Reed and Julie Yeomans took part in a running challenge, reports thisiskent.co.uk.

The Children's Mutual Tunbridge Wells Half Marathon saw them take part in a sponsored run of more than 13 miles.

Ms Yeomans told the paper: "Following colleague persuasion and a little friendly rivalry among the staff at school, I decided to run as a personal challenge."

She added that she hopes to collect around £250 from her sponsors, while Mr Reed raised more than £130, which is to be donated to the Offham school in which they work.

Meanwhile, according to Ekklesia, staff at all Church of England schools in Lancashire have been invited to limit their food budget to £15 a week during Lent to raise money for asylum seekers in the area.
