Guarantee your Supply Work with TimePlan
Kia ora everyone! My name is Karla and I have been a member of the TimePlan Guaranteed Work Agreement for the past year. It was about this time 2 years ago that I was churning my way through my third year teaching in New Zealand and thought about my teaching career and what my next adventure might be. Overseas was a fairly obvious choice.
Upon arrival, I had a mixture of experiences meeting with different agencies. TimePlan were amazing though! I had an interview in their office 3 days after arriving; they were warm, welcoming, and organised. I was offered Guaranteed Supply work at my first meeting and thought there must be a catch!!! Guaranteed work whenever I needed it except for a few days on either side of the school holidays and if I wanted time off to travel just to let them know?!? Sounded too good to be true to me especially after the run around I had been given at other agencies. I made the decision there and then to only work for TimePlan and haven’t regretted it since.
Supply teaching in London has been a rewarding experience. I have had remarkable pupils from all over the world, each having their own story to tell. I have had work in a huge variety of schools both independent and mainstream, many of which I have gotten to know well and often returned to (last count I’d worked at 38 different schools!). For the last 3 months I have been working 3 days a week in a Hospital School, teaching in the children’s ward. This has been some of the most amazing work I have ever done. Don’t get me wrong not everyday has been a walk in the park supply teaching, but I wouldn’t trade those rare, hard days for anything!
The traveling experiences I have had in the past year far surpass anything I would have dreamed of having lived in New Zealand most of my life. I have been lucky enough to spend Easter in Paris, Christmas in Scotland, and have had the chance to explore Sweden, Holland, Croatia, Italy and of course England. The year ahead looks to be as exciting, as I would like to travel a bit more before heading home.
I will never forget my time spent teaching in London; I feel as though I have progressed ten fold in my teaching ability. I would recommend it to anyone, and know that this experience would not have been the same without the opportunities that have been made available to me through the team at TimePlan and the flexibility and reliability of the Guaranteed Work Agreement.
A big thanks to Karla for sending this article through to TimePlan! A bottle of bubbly is on its way to you. If you would like a chance for your story to be published and win a bottle of Champagne, please send it to ben.lewis@timeplan.net.
