Job Description

This large Secondary School have a vacancy for a science teacher in Bedfordshire and is to cover a maternity leave.

The School was inspected by OFSTED in March 2010 and was judged to be a good school with outstanding features. Behaviour is good. Care, guidance and support is outstanding., 70% of students gained 5 A*-C GCSEs last summer and the pass rate at A2 was 100%.

This School is a purpose built Upper School (13-18) and opened in 1976. The school is located on the edge of the town which is a historical market town. The current student roll is 1050 including 280 in the Sixth Form. The school has an enviable range of

specialist facilities, some including : A Theatre and a Drama Studio, full suite of Music Rooms (newly refurbished),Ten Science Laboratories (newly refurbished) a Sports Hall and an Activity Area and Eight Pitches and six Tennis Courts.

You must be able to teach up to GCSE and, preferably, also able to teach up A level standard Biology but that is not essential. As they are an upper school they have no Year 7 and 8 to lighten the load so the post will appeal to someone who wants to build their career and who enjoys a challenge and hard work
