Why Scotland?
As the only agency in Scotland, TimePlan offers a totally unique opportunity to teach throughout much of Scotland. From the beautiful Scottish Borders to the rugged Highlands the choice is yours.
With a wonderful blend of modern cities, ancient history, breathtaking landscapes and wonderful people, Scotland is a must for any visitor to Europe. We can assist you with the mandatory registration with the GTCS and relocation, and of course in securing a teaching experience you will never regret or forget.
The Schools we cover
TimePlan Scotland works in partnership with a number of Education Authorities, mainly located in rural areas which provide teachers with the opportunity to become part of the community. Opportunities in Scotland are for long-term assignments rather than day-to-day teaching. Schools vary but in general they provide an alternative to the inner city experience.
In order to teach in Scotland, all teachers are required to register with the GTCS (General Teaching Council of Scotland). We are happy to assist you with your application and answer any questions that you may have about the registration process.
Things to do
The scenery in Scotland varies from lochs, heather-covered highlands and isolated islands, to lively cities such as Glasgow and Edinburgh along with their excellent culture and arts scenes. Many a visitor to Scotland has searched for the Loch Ness Monster in the murky depths of Loch Ness but if you’re not one for the outdoors there are plenty of other options. The annual Edinburgh Music Festival and Fringe Festival always provide exceptional entertainment. Some find Whisky tasting to be a warming activity which may be necessary, for health reasons of course.
Scotland’s sensational scenery does not have to be enjoyed in quiet contemplation or breathless wonder – get active!! If walking is your thing or golf’s your bag, or if you prefer pedal power or enjoy messing about on the water then Scotland has leisure activities for you.
Accommodation
Shared houses and lodgings will generally cost £40 - £60 weekly and a 1 or 2 bedroom flat will cost from £200 - £300 per month. The length of letting time will in many cases be negotiable. Many of our teachers find that the inside knowledge of staff and the local community, to be quite useful when in search of accommodation.
