Teaching in Portsmouth will find you located in the south of England. Portsmouth is a popular coastal city with lots of attractions and rich history. It prides itself on having some fantastic military and maritime museums including Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, the D-Day Museum and the Royal Marines Museum. The Historic Dockyard is certainly one of the city’s key attractions and is home to some famous ships, such as HMS Victory, HMS Warrior 1860 and the Mary Rose Collection. There is also a thriving commercial ferry port serving destinations on the continent.

The Portsmouth Harbour Waterbus links the Historic Dockyard, Explosion (The Museum of Naval Firepower), The Royal Navy Submarine Museum and Gunwharf Quays. Gunwharf Quays has a fantastic selection of restaurants and bars serving international flavours from around the world. Some of them are located by the waterfront where you can admire ships entering the harbour. It also has over 95 designer shopping outlets, a cinema, a casino, a bowling centre and nightclubs- what more could you ask for?

Portsmouth’s newest attraction located at Gunwharf Quays, the Spinnaker Tower, is the tallest viewing tower in Britain. The three decks with their glass windows provide stunning and breathtaking views over the Solent. For those of you that are feeling brave, why not try walking on the glass floor!

Nearby Southsea is a Victorian seafront with its own funfair and amusements. A hovercraft terminal is here enabling foot passengers to travel over to the Isle of Wight in 10 minutes flat! Further along the front there is a swimming complex and the Blue Reef Aquarium, surrounded by large open parkland that is perfect for taking it easy on a hot summer’s day.
