Living and teaching in South West London and Surrey
Teaching in Southwest London & Surrey offers a beautiful location in which to live and develop your teaching career. The region strikes the perfect balance between thriving boroughs and wooded parkland and offers some fantastic, and frankly some of the best Schools in the UK to work at, including many independent and fee-paying schools. Pupil behaviour is generally excellent in Surrey and South West London schools and this is reflected in the high academic attainment of the Schools across the board.

Carpeted with beautiful countryside and just a stone’s throw from London, Surrey offers a wealth of world-class attractions, contemporary arts venues, unique events, museums, historic buildings, nature reserves, mouth watering restaurants, cafes and pubs. Vibrant and picturesque towns nestle perfectly alongside historic villages. Take in the breathtaking scenery of the Surrey Hills, Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty or marvel at stunning 21st century things to do. It is also an excellent place to explore the world from, with excellent road and rail links across the UK and the major international airports of Heathrow and Gatwick within easy reach. Surrey is proportionally the most densely wooded county in England with over 22% under woodland cover and thousands of acres of woods and heathland, many of which are freely accessible for public enjoyment. Surrey is home to the UK’s largest Vineyard (Denby’s) as well as housing 12 other Vineyards. In 2014, “Get Surrey” reported that the Surrey County as a whole was the most desirable place to live in the UK, with six Surrey boroughs and districts voted into the top 50 places to live, based on a survey taking into factor things such as such as employment, education, health, crime rates, weather and life expectancy.

South West London
South West London, on the other hand, still offers much of the picturesque and easy-going lifestyle you find in Surrey; however, the area boasts much larger town centres and more frequent and efficient public transport links, which take you across the country with ease. There is still, however, plenty to do in South West London, without utilising the direct trains into London- many of which get you there in less than 20 minutes: South West London boasts a bevy of theatres, shopping centres, parks, sporting venues (like Twickenham Rugby and Wimbledon tennis), theme parks, restaurants and plenty of other entertainment venues and amenities to keep you entertained in your spare time.

We all love living and working in Surrey and South West London and hope you will too!
