A popular secondary school in Hampshire is looking for a talented science teacher to cover a maternity leave from January 2018. This full time science teaching position would be an ideal opportunity for an ambitious teacher looking to join a highly successful team. Are you an ambitious, dynamic and enthusiastic teacher looking for that next step in your career? This is a great opportunity for someone who would enjoy working in a vibrant and thriving environment.
This large, oversubscribed comprehensive school is situated in a very pleasant abbey town in the Test Valley. It serves a predominantly rural catchment area extending from the boundary of Southampton to the boundary of Wiltshire. The school has won a number of national awards, including the Eco Green Flag Award, full International School Award, and Artsmark Gold. It became an Academy in 2011 and since then has carried out a major capital investment building programme, giving the school unsurpassed facilities in the area. Students are able to get involved in a huge variety of sporting activities - football, rugby, cricket, basketball, netball, tennis, athletics, badminton, trampolining, gymnastics and dance. Many take part in the Duke of Edinburgh scheme, learn to play an instrument, join one of many bands covering wide musical genres, or join the drama club or art workshops. A highlight for many students is taking part in many residential activities including Paris to study French or Food Technology, watersports in Spain, skiing visits, America, Berlin and many more. Older pupils are designated sports ambassadors, whose task is to survey the school to determine current levels of physical activity and encourage more participation. STEM Club offers a range of science activities and mathematical challenges to illustrate their usefulness in the real world, and is extremely popular. Pupils can then take part in national competitions such as Lego robot design, teaching them project management and teamworking skills, leading to accreditation by the British Science Association. The expressive arts enjoy fantastic facilities here, with several school choirs and bands being invited to provide the entertainment for local events. There is an energy and enthusiasm pervading this school which makes it a great place to further your teaching career.

Located in the Test Valley, this school is an hour by public transport from Southampton, or 20 minutes' drive from the city centre.
